What should I use as the reference for my local transfer to OrbitRemit?
It is important that you use your unique 8-digit Customer Number as the payment reference for your payment to OrbitRemit, so that we can quickly and easily identify your payment.
Failure to enter this number may result in a delay in us identifying your payment and a delay in your payment being settled to your payee.
Please note: For ease of making future payments, we suggest you save OrbitRemit as a bill payee, including your customer number in the reference field.
What is the cut-off time for payments from my Internet Banking?
When making your local transfer to OrbitRemit, please be aware that we can onl release your payment for settlement once we have received your cleared funds into our account.
In most cases (other than public holidays and weekends), your transfer will appear in our account overnight and your payment will be relessed for settlement the next day.
Please note that payments submitted after the cut off time for your bank will not be received on the next business day and as a result may result in a delay in your payment being released.
- In Australia, the Internet Banking cut-off time is 6pm Sydney time.
- In New Zealand, the Internet Banking cutt-off time is dependedent on your bank and can be 8pm, 10pm, or 12pm - we recommend you check with your bank if you are unsure
- In the United Kingdom, provided your bank recognises 'fast-payments' for your accounts, there is no cut-off time. Should you not be eligible for fast payments however, there can be a processing time of up to 3 days, so we recommend you check with you bank if you are unsure.
Can I bundle multiple payments together in one local transfer?
To help ensure the prompt release of your payment, it is advisable to send a separate local transfer for each individual payment instruction placed.
Can I deposit cash direct into the OrbitRemit bank account at a branch?
The only accepted payment method for your local transfer to OrbitRemit is via Internet Banking.
Can I pay to your account using Paypal or a credit or debit card?
No. We do not accept payment via Paypal or credit or debit card. These types of payments account for a significant amount of online fraud and we have decided that to protect our customers that we will only accept payment via Internet banking transfer.
Where can I find the OrbitRemit bank account details so I can transfer the money to fund my payment?
You will receive our local account details on the payment confirmation page when you are logging a payment within the system. You will also receive this information in an automated email to the email address with which you registered.
How do I transfer money from my bank account to the OrbitRemit account?
You need to use your banks internet or telephone banking services to deposit funds into the OrbitRemit bank account, you will have these details on your payment confirmation email. Please remember to add your 8 digit customer number as payment reference so we are able to identify your funds.
Does it cost me anything to transfer funds from my Internet banking to your OrbitRemit account?
No. Domestic Internet banking transfers in all of our send countries are provided free by your bank.
Which bank account can I send my local transfer to OrbitRemit from?
Please ensure that you are making payment to our account from an account in your name. The account from which you send funds to us should match the name of the person registered with us. If you are sending from a joint account please let us know by way of email.
What does the term 'local transfer' mean
Once you have confirmed your Payment Instruction online, you will need to transfer the payment total to the local OrbitRemit bank account.
We refer to this as your 'local transfer' - upon receipt of your cleared funds we will release your payment and begin the settlement process in the destination country.
